THE lifeless body of Harrinarine Singh, 51, was discovered by passers-by, early yesterday morning, in front a rum shop he used to frequent, at Plantain Walk, West Bank Demerara
The upper flat of the building is unoccupied but the rum shop is downstairs, outside of which the discovery was made about 06:30 hrs.
The corpse bore a gaping wound at the back of the head and several pieces of cardboard, nearby, were blood-soaked.
Residents in the neighbourhood said they neither heard nor saw anything unusual but Singh was lying just by the closed door of the shop, where he had been seen imbibing with a group of men on Monday night.
Police have started an investigation into his death and are awaiting the results of a post mortem.
