Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee yesterday participated in a ‘walk around the city’ to reassure the business community and shoppers that a security plan is in place for their protection. The ‘walkabout’ along Regent Street began at Oronoque Street and ended at Avenue of the Republic.
Along the way, the minister interacted with businessmen and shoppers.
When asked about policing in the city for the festive season, Rohee referred to an increased police presence in Georgetown, He observed that there was no report of any major crime in the city wards, but there were a few snatches here and there.
And many businesses have installed security cameras on their premises to deter theft.
As Rohee walked along the busy downtown Regent Street yesterday he stopped in several stores and interacted with store owners and shoppers.
