DWAYNE Grant (no address given) was yesterday remanded to prison, by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, on a larceny from the person charge.
He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which alleged that, on December 11, he stole one gold chain, valued $95,000, from Sonia Rodney. Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail for the defendant, informing that he has another case pending and has been previously convicted for a similar crime in 2005.
The Prosecutor said, in the present case, the virtual complainant was walking when the defendant approached her, riding a bicycle from the opposite direction and snatched her jewel but was arrested later the same day.
Grant has to be back in Court on January 11.
