North West man killed in Berbice road accident

NORTH West District resident Hemon Jose succumbed to multiple injuries after a motor vehicle accident on Fort Canje Public Road in Berbice last November 24.
The cause of death was established by Government pathologist, Dr. Vivekanand Brijmohan, who performed the post mortem examination on the deceased at Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) mortuary on Wednesday.

Jose was walking along the main thoroughfare, on the northern side of the Canje River Bridge, when he was, allegedly, struck by motor car PJJ 8249.
The injured man was taken to New Amsterdam Hospital from where he was transferred to the GPH and died there.
Meanwhile, the driver was detained and, following a breathalyser test for alcohol content, it was established that he had 92 microgrammes, which exceeded the 35 microgrammes limit.
He was released on station bail but is expected to face charges shortly.
