JUSTICE Dawn Gregory-Barnes has adjourned, until Monday, the trial of Mohammed Rasheed called Boy, Raymond and Rigman, who is indicted, at the Berbice Assizes, for the murder of his wife. A mixed jury was sworn before the judge granted the adjournment, on Thursday, to allow State assigned Defence Counsel Charrandas Persaud to be properly briefed.
The 42-year-old accused, of Number 51 Squatting Area, Corentyne, is alleged to have unlawfully killed 60-year-old Budmattie Ramroop alias ‘Vedoo’ or ‘Haribol woman’, on
July 27, 2008.
Reports said the victim did not awake that morning and the accused reported her death at Number 51 Police Station but a post mortem examination established that she
succumbed to blunt trauma in her head.
Wife murder case adjourned to Monday
