THE absence of prospective jurors yesterday stalled trials at the criminal sessions of the Berbice Assizes.
Justice Dawn Gregory-Barnes adjourned Court to Monday.
State Prosecutor Dionne Mc Cammon was prepared to present the murder indictment against Gowkarran Ramdayal but a count of those waiting to do jury service revealed that only 20 of the 60 summoned were in attendance.
The Guyana Chronicle was informed that at least 30 persons are required from among whom 12 can be selected to sit in a case.
Justice Gregory-Barnes reminded those who were present that they have a civil responsibility and warned that absenteeism will not be tolerated.
