CAMILLO Mitchell, 18, of Lot 10 Rahaman’s Park, Greater Georgetown, was shot dead early yesterday morning.
His death was pronounced on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after the shooting by a businessman.
The dead teen’s mother, Jennifer Williams, told the Guyana Chronicle she last saw him on Monday midday when he left home to go to a party.
She next heard that he was killed by the owner of a city guest house in the vicinity of Robb and Cummings Streets, in Georgetown.
Williams maintained that her son was not a thief and worked as a mason, while living with her and his brother in an apartment.
She said he had a “steady job” and assisted the family.
According to her, his body bore three gunshot wounds to the chest, foot and one hand and it was in a crouching position when she saw it.
She described him as a quiet person, who was not troublesome and said the manner of his demise shocked family members.
Williams admitted she was not aware of the circumstances surrounding the 06:30 hrs killing.
Police, in a release, said, about 04:35 h yesterday Patrick King, proprietor of King’s Guest House on Robb Street, was aroused by the sounds of a commotion outside his apartment in the guest house and, upon opening his door to check, was attacked by two men at whom he discharged rounds from his licensed firearm.
One of the men was Mitchell, Police said, adding that investigations are in progress.
