THE $1.2 billion in-patient facility, now under construction at Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), is approximately 70 per cent complete, Acting Director of Facilities Management, Mr. Kamal Haricharan said.
According to him, the works are expected to be completed by January.
The project was, initially, an 18 months undertaking and fortnightly meetings are held by the Health Facilities Development Unit to review the progress.
Haricharan said the contractor, R. Basso Contracting has most of the equipment necessary for completing the upgrade of the institution, in keeping with GPHC’s master plan and the national development strategy to improve the quality and efficacy of health care services.
He said, when finished the structure is targeted to house approximately 300 patients.
