Under-strength Guyana to meet Guatemala in Atlanta today

… five regular starters out
GUYANA’S senior footballers, minus five regular starters, will collide with Central American side Guatemala in a Friendly International, this afternoon, at the Kennsawe State University Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
The depleted Guyana squad under the supervision of head coach, Wayne Dover and manager Rawle Adams held two training sessions yesterday and are confident of doing well against today’s opponents who are ranked much lower than Guyana in the FIFA world rankings.
Among the missing starters for today’s match-up are locally based goalkeeper Ronson Williams and striking duo Anthony Abrams and Devon Millington, along with Trinidadian-based midfielder Walter Moore and U.K.-based defender Jake Newton. Also not making the U.S. trip is T&T-based Shawn Beveney who, like Moore, made a late application for his U.S. visa.
The game is being used to have a look at other overseas-based footballers with a view of Guyana selecting its strongest side for the Digicel Cup finals set for Martinique at the end of the month.
The full 15-man squad gathered in Atlanta reads: Howard Lowe (captain), Derek Carter, Jason Lloyd, Charles Pollard, Chris Bourne, Fabian Browne, John Rodrigues, Sean Cameron, Howard Newton, Chris Nurse, Brion Baker, Dwight Peters, Dwain Ali, Dwain Jacobs and national U-20 U.S.-based Kevin Beaton. (Ras Abdalla Tafari Wadada).
