(REUTERS) – The Dallas Mavericks rode the hot shooting of Jason Terry to pull away from the Memphis Grizzlies and record a 106-91 victory on Wednesday.
Terry scored a game-high 25 points and made 11-of-16 shots as the Mavericks (5-2) improved to 3-0 on the road for the first time since they won seven straight away from home to start the 2002-03 NBA season.
Shawn Marion added 20 points to supplement a quiet night from German forward Dirk Nowitzki, who had 12 points and 10 rebounds despite suffering an ankle injury towards the end of the first half.
Nowitzki returned in the second half and played the rest of the contest.
“My team mates got me involved and we were out there feeding off each other and just doing what we’ve got to do to get a win,” Marion told reporters after making his first start of the season in place of the injured Caron Butler.
“We have a very talented team. Everybody is capable of going out there and having a big night.”
Dallas led 55-50 at halftime then started the third quarter with a 7-0 run and opened up a 19-point advantage to steer clear of the Grizzlies (4-5).
Zach Randolph had 23 points and nine rebounds for Memphis who entered the night with consecutive wins.
Memphis defeated the Mavericks 91-90 on October 29 but led only briefly in the first quarter this time around.
Rudy Gay had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Grizzlies, but the Mavericks still powered to their fourth win in five games.
