ROGER Dummett (no address given) has been charged with stealing a gold band from pastor and University of Guyana (UG) lecturer Terrence Esseboom.
The defendant appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on the larceny from the person charge and pleaded not guilty.
Particulars of the offence said Dummett stole the $320,000 jewel on October 7.
The virtual complainant said he was driving and his right hand was outside the motor car when the defendant made the snatch while riding a bicycle.
Dummett told the Court he is willing to repay Esseboom but the magistrate asked why he wanted to do that if he is not guilty and the defendant replied that he wished to settle the matter although he did not commit the crime.
The defendant made an initial payment of $80,000 in Court and undertook to make full restitution on November 12.
Meantime, he was put on $100,000 bail.
