House cleaner charged with $221,000 larceny

CANDACE Barker, of Lot 93 South Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was yesterday ordered to post $125,000 bail on a simple larceny charge.
Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, the defendant pleaded not guilty to having, between October 31 and November 7 last, stolen two gold chains valued $210,000,
one gold ring worth $3,000 and $8,000, all property of Shawndell Hicks, whose total loss was $221,000.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant hired Barker to clean her house and, subsequently, discovered the jewels and money missing.
The case will be called, again, on January 4, 2011.
