Guyana beat St.Vincent 2-0

TWO second half goals assured Guyana win as they ended their quota of matches on a winning note against St. Vincent and the Grenadines,  when group ‘F’ of the Digicel Caribbean Cup competition reached its climax at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella South Trinidad.
After a lacklustre first half the Guyanese took control of the match in the second period to convert in the 67th and 78th minutes.
Devon Millington broke the deadlock after Anthony Abrams had split the defence with a well measured thru pass just inside the box.
Millington after beating the advancing keeper was substituted along with Abrams as the Guyanese went in search of more goals. On were Shawn Beveney and Dwain Jacobs. earlier in the first half midfielder Chris  Nurse was replaced by former captain Charles Pollard as John Rodrigues switched to midfield and Pollard joined captain Howard Lowe in the middle defense.
The second conversion by Guyana brought the several hundred fans to their feet as Beveney skillfully chested down at the top of the box for Sean Cameron to blast home.
Thereafter it was all out attack with Jacobs, Peters and Beveney missing chances and at the opposite end Ronson Williams who was later named ‘Man- of- the-Match had to effect a number of one-on -one saves as the old and tired legs of Pollard and Lowe was very much evident’.
Guyana’s fate as regards advancing to the Digicel Cup finals rested with T&T beating Haiti by two  clear goals.
