Dr. Rambaran elected as President of GPHC’s Medical Officers Association

THE Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) Medical Officers Association, formerly known as the Junior Doctors Association, has announced the election of Dr Navindranauth Rambaran  as its President. Dr. Rambaran, who was elected during the Association’s Annual General Meeting on October 28,  will hold the capacity of the junior doctors representative on the Medical Advisory Committee of the GPHC.

He replaces Dr Carlos Martin who served two terms (2008-2010). Dr Nandani Mudlier returns as secretary of the association. Dr Darshanand Maraj was elected treasurer. He replaces Dr Rondell Benn who served one term (2009-2010).

According to a statement from the Association, the Management Committee includes Department representatives, namely:
Anaesthesia: Dr Sharon Montague
Surgery: Dr Shilindra Rajkumar
Medicine: Dr Kishore Ramdass
Paediatrics: Dr Radha Luknauth
Obgyn:  Dr Ademola Biala
Accident and Emergency: Dr Ahiliyia Permaul
The Association has approximately 50 financial members with objectives in promoting development and interchange of technical knowledge amongst doctors working at the Georgetown Public Hospital and other similar organizations in Guyana and other countries.
The AGM was sponsored by GPHC and Bayer Schering Pharma.
