GBTI reiterates purpose of WOW scheme
GUYANA Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) hosted its annual cultural Diwali programme on Essequibo Coast at Anna Regina, Wednesday.
Staged on the lawns of the branch, it was attended by a large crowd, including bank customers, devotees of mandirs and others, with the focus on the traditional aspects of Diwali, including bhajans, other Indian songs and skits.
Branch Manager, Mr. Mario Farinah said GBTI is very pleased to, once again, host the important Diwali event, because it presents an opportunity for all to come together as a family.
He said GBTI is fully committed to the upliftment and betterment of the quality of life in the community and will continue to show interest in the preservation of the cultural and religious values and ensure that the significance of the occasion continues to be an important part of its yearly calendar of activities.
Farinah also took the opportunity to thank all bank customers for their support and patronage over the years and continuing in the future.
Speaking about the Woman of Worth (WOW) single parent loan scheme, he said it is geared to make financing easier for the target group at lower interest rates, with the only security being a promissory note.
Farinah reiterated that the loans would help improve the economic status of women, as they strive to better provide for their families, while contributing to the overall development of the country.
