DENNIS Adonis, of Lot 27 North Nabaclis, East Coast Demerara, was granted $200,000 bail yesterday, when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on a fraudulent conversion charge. He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, between December 30, 2009 and January 4, 2010, being solely entrusted with $542,000, by Fitzroy Pollard, to purchase 100 modems for him, he fraudulently converted the money to his own use and benefit.
Attorney-at-law Ms. Debra Kumar, in her successful bail application, said the defendant and the virtual complainant had entered into a business contract although the latter denied it.
The case will be called, again, on November 29.
