Armed bandits attack GPOC’s mail contractor

A mail contractor working with the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) on Monday morning was relieved of a quantity of mail outside the Grove Post Office. At about 07:25 hours a man armed with a gun confronted the mail contractor as he made his way to the Post Office from his vehicle. After a brief scuffle the gunman and an accomplice escaped with mail bags containing mail intended for delivery in the Grove, Soesdyke and Kuru Kururu areas.
Operations at the Post Office in Grove continued as usual a release from GPOC said.
The Guyana Post Office Corporation is apologising to its customers for any delay in the delivery of mail as a result of this incident and has notified its customers and clients of this development. Further it has committed to the delivery of these mails once they become available from our clients and customers at no extra charge.
