$85M judgement awardee moves to jail Demerara Bank directors

ARNOLD Sankar has filed contempt of Court proceedings, seeking to imprison Demerara Bank Directors Pravin Dave, Hemraj Kissoon and Dr. Leslie Chin.
In an action he initiated against Mahaicony Rice Limited, Justice Rishi Persaud granted granted him judgement in the sum of $85M with costs $200 000
and interest at the rate of six per cent per annum from August 5 to September 27, 2010 and after then, at four per cent until payment by Demerara Bank guarantee/bank bond lodged with the Registrar of the Supreme Court.
In his supporting affidavit, Sankar said he secured the judgement on September 27 and  Demerara Bank was directed to pay the award.
Consequently, he said he will move to the Court, on November 8, or as soon as his lawyer can be heard to have the three directors named committed to the Georgetown Prison for contempt of Court, on the ground that they are willfully neglecting, refusing and omitting to pay him what he was awarded.
