Suspect in Corentyne road fatality eludes Police arrest

BERBICE Police Traffic Chief Kevin Adonis ordered the arrest of a woman suspected to have been the driver of the Tapir taxi, H 6117, following the fatal accident in which 48-year-old Rudolph February was killed over the weekend. But ranks at Springlands Station were unable to find the suspect, who may have fled the jurisdiction from the border town Corriverton, where the fatality occurred.
February was the sixteenth person to have lost his life in a vehicular accident in Berbice, this year, two less than for the same period last year.
Reports said February was on the eastern side of Number 76 Public Road, sitting on motorcycle CD 1779 while waiting for a relative who had attended a church service, when the out of control vehicle, locally converted to carry passengers, struck and killed him on the spot.
Owner of the vehicle, Davindra Ganshan claimed it was on a test run, after being left with a mechanic for several days.
The body of the deceased is at the Skeldon Hospital Mortuary in Corentyme, awaiting a post mortem examination.
