50th National Schools Championships
STATIONARIES retailer Giftland OfficeMax yesterday joined telecommunications provider DIGICEL to throw their support behind the successful staging of the 50th Guyana Teachers Union (GTU) National Schools track and field athletics championships, when they handed over $150,000 in stationary supplies to the GTU.
Marketing manager of Giftland OfficeMax Compton Babb in an invited comment said his entity was pleased to be associated with the GTU on such a commemorative event which will be held at the Providence Stadium from 9th to 12th November.
“First of all, let me say congratulations to the GTU for celebrating their 50th year in organizing these championships, of which Giftland OfficeMax is pleased to be associated with, which is not the first time we are a part of the championships.
We have always been proud to be associated with the GTU, but because of the magnitude of this event, we are more than happy to contribute towards the success of same and we will always be willing to offer our support in the future”, stated Babb.
Apart from the stationeries which totalled $59,900 and included Studmark branded heavy duty staple machines, staples, file folders, pencils, sharpeners, rubber bands, laminating pouches and permanent markers, Giftland OfficeMax will be making tangible contributions towards the printing of the GTU’s 50th commemorative magazine and the event flyers.
President of the GTU Colin Bynoe thanked the sponsors for their sterling contribution, which he said will help a great deal in executing the accreditation of the athletes and officials as well as media personnel who will be covering the games.
