– body parts sent for further tests after post mortem inconclusive
THE mystery surrounding the death of 24-year-old Darshanie Matadin, of La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara, is expected to be cleared up by Friday when the pathologist report is expected to be completed.
The girl, an employee of the Qualfon Call Centre at Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara went to work on Wednesday last where she reportedly collapsed on the job and was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). She succumbed at the hospital on Thursday afternoon.
The post mortem done on Darshanie’s body was inconclusive and specimens of her body were subsequently taken for toxicology and other tests.
Her father, Pastor Mohan Matadin, told the Guyana Chronicle yesterday that samples of her spleen, liver, kidney and other body organs were taken for testing.
However, whatever the result of these tests, the girl’s father stressed that he did not want an investigation into the matter.
“I don’t want the court nor the police to get involve. My daughter was very religious and I know she gone to heaven. If something was wrong then God will punish those deserving,” Pastor Matadin declared.
When pressed why he did not want an investigation, especially if Darshanie’s death was as a result of ‘foul play’, the Pastor just said: “God will deal with the perpetrators; leave it up to Him”.
The man said he is not aware of his daughter having enemies and even if she did, she never indicated having difficulties with anyone.
Meanwhile, a Human Resource Recruiter from Qualfon, Ms. Nandani Ramcharran, in an invited comment, said the 24-year-old was a quiet and peaceful person.
“She worked hard, her performance was good and she moved up. She was a Quality Analyst here after working just two years and 10 months,” she said.
Ramcharran said the young woman seemed to be in good health, but noted that sometimes she seemed “sad.”
“Darshanie was not the type to talk about what was bothering her. She would say she was okay if you asked and had a smile for you,” she said.
The girl was reportedly not suffering from any illness prior to her death.
Repeated attempts to contact police for further information on this case proved futile.
Meanwhile, speculation is rife among several people who were associated with Darshanie that she might have been poisoned.
There were also unconfirmed reports, including on the popular ‘Demerara Waves’ blogsite, that Darshanie’s cousin was raped and killed by two brothers in the Parika Backdam several years ago.
