Ex-Immigration officer in trio charged with conspiracy

THREE men appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, jointly charged with conspiracy to commit a felony. Ex-immigration officer Stephen Bourne, driver Katahildo Ramsaywak and Edward Bowen (no addresses given) were not required to plead to the indictable charge, which alleged that, on October 5, with intent to defraud, they conspired together to obtain two Guyana Police Force (GPF) immigration stamps, by falsely pretending that the endorsements were required, knowing it to be false.
On an application by Defence Counsel Vic Puran, for Bourne and Bowen, each of the trio was granted $250,000 bail until October 21.
