A new footpath bridge has been constructed at the Uitvlugt Primary School on the West Coast Demerara. a recent release from the Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara) administrative office said.According to the release the new bridge which is 10 metres in length and one metre wide (about 35 by 5 feet) has been constructed of wood and fitted with rails of galvanised pipe. The cost of the bridge is $598,000.
The new structure is expected to serve as a link from the Uitvlugt Estate Road to the Uitvlugt Primary School. Regional Executive Officer Paul Ramrattan who noted that access to the bridge had been limited for a long time, opined that the new bridge will benefit pupils, teachers and parents particularly those who reside at Uitvlugt Pasture and along the estate road.
