ACTING Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday released Othniel Obermuller on bail when he appeared in court charged with simple larceny. The defendant, of 19 South Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the charge which said, on October 5 last, he stole a cell phone valued $50,000 from Paul Jones.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, told the court that the defendant snatched the phone from the victim.
Obermuller was released on $40,000 bail and the case will come up again on October 27.
