Officers of the Guyana Prison Service (GPS) yesterday took time off from their normal schedule to participate in a route march through several streets in the city, as observances to mark Prison Week 2010, which commenced on September 26, came to a close.

With him were Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Angela Johnson; Director of Prisons (DOP, Dale Erskine; Deputy Director Malcom Mc Andrew and Officer-in-Charge of the Georgetown Prison, Trevor Small.
Later, the Director of Prisons Erskine was accorded his respect outside of Camp Street penitentary, after which he addressed his officers and ranks.

`Prisons in Concert’ allows both officers and inmates to showcase their talents in drama, poetry, song, dance, as well as their skill at the steel pan.
