Man charged with robbery of Speaker’s son remanded

ROBBERY under arms defendant Keith Andrews, 23, of Lot 34 Queen Street, Cummingsburg, Georgetown, in ‘Tiger Bay’, was yesterday remanded to prison by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
He pleaded not guilty to charges, two of which said, on September 25, being armed with a gun he robbed Radika Foo of gold jewellery valued $95,000 and Gary Foo of one gold band and a cellular phone, with a total value of $150,000.
It is also alleged that, on September 28, at gunpoint, he also robbed Michael Cain of a cellular phone worth $40,000 and $20,000 cash and, that same day, under similar circumstances, robbed Nikhil Ramkarran, son of Parliament Speaker Ralph Ramkarran, of a $220,000 digital camera and other property, making a total loss of $940,000 to the victim.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, who successfully objected to bail for Andrews said the crimes were committed on the city seawall.
Andrews has to be back in Court on October 21.
