Unusual delay in shipping of barrels

I regret to have to pen my recent sad experience with the shipping giant – Laparkan. In particular, I find the Richmond Hill, New York, location to have some very lackadaisical staff members. I went to this office on August 14, 2010 and posted two barrels which were clearly labelled and numbered 1 of 2 and 2 of 2. I was told by the staff at the Richmond Hill location that I would receive my items in Guyana in about four to five weeks. I left New York the same day and returned to Guyana.
On Monday, September 13, 2010, I called the local Laparkan office in Georgetown to enquire if my items arrived and was told that my barrels will be leaving the USA on September 18, 2010, i.e., five weeks after I posted them. At first I thought this date was a mistake, but by further investigations with the supervisor on September 14, 2010 this proved to be correct. On September 15, 2010 , I was given an explanation via telephone that my two barrels somehow got separated in transit to the New Jersey location and both barrels had be reunited before making the shipment. It appears therefore that the reunion of the barrels took approximately four weeks.
I am now in the unfortunate situation of authorising someone here to uplift my barrels as I have to return to the US shortly. Due to no fault of mine I will have to do without my personal items and also items for my poor friends and relatives to enjoy with while I am here.
This situation is indeed very frustrating due to apparent inefficiencies. A point to note also is that I was told by the person I spoke to via telephone on Monday, September 13, 2010 that ‘there is nothing you or I can do about this.’ I find this comment to be very rude and unprofessional.
I hope the management of Laparkan investigates my matter with a view to improve their professionalism and timeliness in handling people’s personal belongings which mean so much to them and their families.
