THE two men nabbed after the more than $1M robbery, at Cummings Lodge on Wednesday, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at Sparendaam Court, also on East Coast Demerara, yesterday.
Twenty-three-year old Kelvin Critchlow (no address given) and Devon Marks, 19, of Lot 175 Station Street, Kitty, Georgetown, were remanded to prison on charges of robbery under arms and unlawful possession of a firearm. Particulars of the joint indictable charge said, on September 22, at Cummings Lodge, they robbed Ramdeo Ramdin, at gunpoint, of $1M cash, jewellery worth $200,000 and a camera valued $6,000.
The other charge, to which they pleaded not guilty, said the duo had a gun without being the holder of a licence for it.
The lawyer for Marks, Mr. Patrice Henry, in a failed bail application, said the man is not a flight risk and that one firearm could not be in the possession of two persons.
However, Police Sergeant Griffith successfully objected to the grant, on the ground that the accused might tamper with the witnesses.
The case will be called, again, on October 12.
