Woman in trio held after supermarket armed robbery

– two firearms found on suspects
DILIGENT action by the Police led to the arrest, on Tuesday, of three suspects including a woman, following a robbery at Raheim Supermarket, on Agriculture Road, Triumph, East Coast Demerara.
Police have also taken into custody an AT192 Toyota motor car and two firearms, a .32 and a.38, with five and three matching rounds of ammunition, respectively, as well as two spent shells.

That was after the suspects had robbed Bhagwandai and Raheim Hussein at their supermarket, about 15:30 h on Tuesday.
Police said, consequent to a prompt report, they responded and intercepted the car, which fitted the description of the one used in the getaway, on Industry Crown Dam Road, on East Coast Demerara, too.
The vehicle had attempted to escape a Police road block and, when it ran into a trench, the driver was promptly arrested.
Further enquiries led to the other man and the woman being held and the recovery of the guns at a Crown Dam address.
Earlier, two men had entered the business place on the ground floor of the two-flat building and one held cashier Bhagwandai Hussein at gunpoint and ordered her to hand over money, which she did.
Meantime, his accomplice stole cash from another section of the shop and both of them discharged rounds inside and outside the premises after the woman victim raised an alarm.
Police are continuing their investigations into the crime.
