EIGHT students, who were successful at the 2010 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) examinations, have been awarded by the Hinterland Scholarship Division of the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs.
Chairman of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Alli Baksh said the awardees were selected from targeted areas in the Region, based on their individual performances.
The awards were given to Althea Esther Li, Zhaneta Schadde, Kemo Richards and Kimberly Basdeo, of Kabakaburi in Upper Pomeroon; Sarah Kellawan and Breyana Adams, of Jacklow; Keanu Thomas of Tapakuma and Nariffa Allicock of Capoey.
Baksh said apart from the scholarships, Government is providing free secondary education for all students of Amerindian communities countrywide.
