Diatribe television show continuing for second season
DIATRIBE, the television talk show that seeks to educate the public about pressing issues, will continue for second season, following its introductory ceremony at Roraima Duke Lodge last Friday.
The next in the series will be filmed in front of a live studio audience and its diverse agenda features fashion, health and social problems, such as domestic violence and poverty, among others.
The pilot episode, which was aired every Wednesday on the National Communications Network (NCN) Channel 11 in May, ran for four months.
The programme is hosted by local designer Sonia Noel, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Guyana Fashion Weekend and Guyana Model Search Designers Stylist Portfolio, which are in their fourth and third years, respectively; health professional and beauty pageant consultant Negla Brandis and former model Sabrina France.
Brandis, commenting on Diatribe, said it offers her a platform to discuss matters which require attention, noting that research is needed for a presentation of that kind.
It is not just about being pretty but one must be knowledgeable, she remarked.
One of the questions examined is respect for senior citizens and Brandis noted that Guyana is a “youths oriented society but if they do not have the right role models, then all will be lost.”
She praised Noel for her “sense of purpose”.
France, who has worked with Noel for a number of years, said the women in Diatribe are from all age groups and the former introduces a fresh point of view to the debate.
Noel observed that the show appeals to all age groups, from teenagers to octogenarians, as she has had the range, actually, compliment it.
She said one aim is to empower women and one of the memorable episodes for her was seeing a male single parent on her Mother’s Day programme.
