Bermuda halt Canada tour to beat Hurricane Igor

HAMILTON, Bermuda (CMC) – Bermuda’s cricketers have cut short their disappointing tour of Canada to return home ahead of the approach of powerful Hurricane Igor, officials said.
Originally due to return to the island on Saturday, the team will instead arrive home today,
missing the last two games of the series which also featured hosts Canada and a West Indies High Performance XI.
The Bermuda Cricket Board chose to bring home the team early because of the risk that if they stayed, and the storm is a bad one, they might be stuck in Toronto until the early part of next week.
It is also believed that the majority of the squad wanted to be with their families, if, or when, the hurricane hits.
Igor was around 900 miles east of Bermuda at noon yesterday, moving to the west-northwest.
Bermuda lost all their matches in the tournament which was scheduled to end tomorrow.
