Two Brazilian nationals remanded

– charged jointly with possession of narcotics and resisting Police arrest
TWO residents of Boa Vista, Brazil, yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson charged jointly with possession of narcotics and resisting Police arrest.
Abraao Alves Lima, 23, and Adalto De Oliviera, 21, pleaded not guilty to both charges, one of which said, on August 25 last, at Tabatinga, Central Rupununi, they had in possession 12 grammes of cannabis.
Particulars of the other charge said, on the same day, they assaulted Detective Constable Xavier in the execution of his duties with intent to resist or prevent lawful apprehension of themselves or other persons.
The defendants were remanded to prison and will make another court appearance at Lethem on September 7.
