I wish to commend the government for their recent step of allocating farm lands to the people of the upper Pomeroon River. The Honourable Minister of Agriculture is on the beat to make sure that farmers of these vulnerable areas get some level of assistance. A good advice also is that the farmers need to relocate to higher lands since we have global warming to deal with, indeed we have sea and river level rising thus making farming in low lying areas economically not viable. The people of the lower Pomeroon River are still awaiting there share of assistance since they also suffered from flooding like the farmers in the upper Pomeroon.
The mining sector faces the similar fate, this time it is the few miners whose lands cause difficulties to small miners to operate.
The government must be complimented for the call by the President recently to repossess land that do not beneficially occupied by farmers or landlords.
With a radical land development programmed the agriculture sector will catapult with tremendous thrust.
Yours truly,
Government commended for allocating farm lands in upper Pomeroon
