HOUSTON Rockets and China basketball star Yao Ming has been given the all-clear to play again, but admitted he is not yet match-fit.
The 29-year-old centre had surgery on a hairline fracture to his left foot last July.
Doctors were worried it may be career-threatening, but the All Star revealed he is training again and should be good for the new season.
“I had a cheeseburger to celebrate and gained about three pounds,” Yao joked in TV interview after completing a one-on-one drill at the Toyota Center.
“My doctor said the fracture is completely healed. I’m good to go from one-on-one to two-on-two and I’ll get to play scrimmage before the (pre-season) training camp starts.
“I’ve been missing all year from a basketball court and am really not in good shape right now – a little bit away from my game-shape.”(Eurosport)
