Thousands turn out to see the ‘Gully God’ in action

Despite the inclement weather …
-and he did not disappoint

BAD WEATHER did not deter thousands of Mavado fans from turning out to see the ‘Gully God’ do his thing at the National Stadium on Friday night.
The Jamaican  reggae superstar,  born David Constantine Brooks and known for chart- topping  hits like ‘Money Changer’, ‘So Special’,  ‘9 Life’, and ‘Come Into My Room’ , was here specifically for the  Jamzone  Regional  Night  super-concert.

The Karma band; Guyanese dancehall lyricist, Jory; Trinidadian Soca stars and inventors of the famous ‘Palance’ dance, J.W and Blaze; and Guyanese singer, Tamika Marshall were also on hand and gave entertaining performances preceding Mavado’s headlining act.
By the time Mavado took to the stage, some time after  02:00h in the morning, it was raining ‘cats and dogs’,  but the party-crazed crowd would not be deterred, and went into a bacchanalian frenzy, breaking down security barricades, climbing where they could and even stripping in some cases.
This show was the second of three super-concerts billed for the Jamzone Summer Break Weekend, being preceded by a Chutney super-concert and followed yesterday  by an ‘International Night’  which  featured the American R&B singer, Ne-Yo.
Today, one of eight Caribbean beauties competing for the first ever Miss Jamzone International title will be crowned at  the Jamzone Beach Jam and Pageant held at Splashmins.
