According to reports, farmers in the Windsor Castle area are currently harvesting paddy from their fields.
Reports said harvesting has also started in the Dartmouth area.
Some farmers told the Chronicle that most of the 32,500 acres under cultivation will be ready for harvesting within another two weeks, and they are very worried about the conditions of the dams.
According to the farmers the current rainy condition has caused the dams to become soft and muddy.
Farmers said paddy from fields are transported with trucks and tractor and trailers to factories via access dams in the rice growing areas.
Farmers are expecting a bumper crop and are looking forward to good prices for their produce and quick payment from millers.
Reports said the rice crop in the Cozier scheme is also growing well. There is enough water to sustain the crop during growth.
