New PYARG group formed in Upper Pomeroon

The President Youth Award-Republic of Guyana Programme (PYARG) has formed a new group at New Havens Housing Scheme, Siriki Sands, in the upper Pomeroon River.
Field Assistant Officer of PYARG in Region Two, Herald Alves told the Chronicle that the new group has 15 members.

According to Alves, a 12-member Gold participant team from the Anna Regina Multilateral School (ARMS) and a group from Charity also visited the area and participated in several community activities.
He said the gold participants planted palm and almond trees, cleared tree stumps from the playground and distributed stationery to kids.
Alves said the members also donated books to the community library, and paper files and cardboards to the Health Centre, and small sewing kits to the women’s sewing group.
Several volunteers from England who accompanied the gold participants also took part in a house feeding programme and a campfire on the playground.
Alves said gold participant members also interacted with villagers and shared knowledge about PYARG with youths, at the same time encouraging them to join.
