MUNESHWAR Persaud, charged with robbing an American citizen of her cell phone, was Monday remanded to prison after informing Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton that he had no money to pay bail.
Persaud (no address given) pleaded not guilty to the charge which said on August 15, on Charlotte Street, he stole the cell phone worth $10,000, belonging to Leann Thousan.
Magistrate Octave-Hamilton asked the defendant if he wished to be placed on bail and he replied that he had no money.
Persaud will remain in prison until September 13.
