Chetram Singh & Sanasie get Orders against W.I. Players Association, Management & Ramnarine

CHIEF Justice (Ag.)  Mr. Ian Chang Thursday in Chambers granted Ex Parte  Orders to Guyana Cricket Board, represented by Anand Sanasie and Chetram Singh, for legal proceedings to be taken against WI Players Association, WI Players Management & Dinanath Ramnarine. The Chief Justice  granted the Orders after reading  the Application by way of Ex Parte Summons and affidavits on the part of Guyana Cricket Board sworn to  on August 11 by Anand  Sanasie , the Company Secretary.
After hearing arguments by plaintiff’s lawyers Mr. Sanjeev Datadin and Mr. Mohamed R. Ali, the Acting Chief Justice ordered and directed that leave be and is hereby granted to the intended plaintiff to issue and serve  a Writ of Summons  against the Intended Defendants to be effected by courier service and publication  in one daily newspaper in Trinidad and Tobago and one daily newspaper in St. Lucia.
The Judge further ordered that the intended Defendants do file an entry of  appearance or cause one to be filed on their behalf within 42 days of the publication.
Upon reading the application by way of Originating Summons on the part of Chetram Singh and Anand Sanasie, their affidavits and upon hearing their lawyers, Judge Ian Chang Ordered and Directed that leave be and is hereby granted against the West Indies Players Association, West Indies Player Management Company Limited and Dinanath Ramnarine in the name of the Guyana Cricket Board.
The Plaintiffs are seeking in excess of $10, 000,000 for interference in the contractual relations between the Plaintiff and the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
Damages against the Defendants in excess of $10, 000,000 for conspiracy to prevent the team selected by the Plaintiff from competing  in the 2010 Champions League Twenty 20 in South Africa from 10th – 26th September , unless the team competes on their terms as to the sharing or remuneration or otherwise.
A declaration that there is no valid nor enforceable agreement between the first and second defendants in respect of the intellectual property and image rights  of the members of the cricket team sent or is to be sent by the Plaintiff to participate in the 2010 Champions  League Twenty 20 in South Africa  from the 10th to the 26th September 2010.
An injunction restraining the defendants  by themselves, their servants and or agents, from causing and or directing the members of the Guiana Cricket Team from honouring their agreement to play in the 2010 Champion League.
