-imposes stricter penalties on bar owners
Minister of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee Monday tabled the Intoxicating Liquor Licencing (Amendment) Bill in the National Assembly. The Bill amends Sections 50 and 51 of the Intoxicating Liquor Licensing Act to increase the penalty for allowing a person under the age of 16 years to be on licensed premises.
The amendment increases the fine for the first offence from $1,000 to $500,000; from $3,000 to $1,000,000for a subsequent offence; and for a third conviction, the penalty includes the revocation of licences. (GINA)
