MEMBERS of the Guyana America Faith Partners Incorporated (GAFP) a non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in America last week presented US$6,000 worth of equipment and materials to the Home Economics Department of the No. 29 School in West Coast Berbice.
The gifts comprising microwave ovens, industrial tools, sewing machines, pressure cookers, pots and pans among others were handed over to the school by Mr. Abraham David Secretary of the Local Chapter of the GAPF.
They were received by Mrs. Monica Fraser-Carmichael Head Teacher of the school.
Mr. Hugh Payne and Mr. John Piggott, members of the Local Chapter of the GAFP were among teachers, pupils and some parents of children at the school who witnessed the presentation.
Mr. David disclosed that the donation was the third to the school by GAPF over the past five years.
He told onlookers that the GAFP was incorporated both in the USA and in Guyana and that its formation was the brainchild of Ms, Cicely Peters, daughter of Mr. Jordan a former head teacher of the school.
He disclosed that Mr. Jordan had played a major role in the establishment of the school.
To the grateful staff and students he stressed: “It is our fervent hope that the school will make maximum use of these items and also that the tangible results can be documented to the GAFP. In this way, GAFP will be encouraged to provide even further and greater contribution to the #29 school and community.”
