UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) launches “We Can End Poverty” photo contest. Antonio Banderas judge: winning images to be exhibited during world leaders Millennium Development Goals Summit in September. This appeared in the Guyana Chronicle dated May 18.
After reading this publication, I thought that this would be an ideal forum to join with the rest of the world and make a contribution on behalf of Guyana. At the same time, I honestly feel that this is my Olympic Run in competition with the rest of the globe. Win or lose, we were represented.
The three categories I submitted images towards are as follows:
– Promote gender equality and empower women
– Reduce child mortality
– Ensure environmental sustainability
From over three thousand images and after the short listing process was done, the present count for voting and judging now stands at 2,621and the last I checked, Guyana is very much in the running.
Voting runs from August 1-15 and judging from August 16-September 3, 2010.
I now call on the public for five minutes of your precious time and cast your votes towards the images on Guyana and this goes towards the People’s Choice Award.
