Laurence Fishburne, women independence and fatherless homes

According to Newsone.com, Laurence Fishburne’s daughter, Montana, has dropped the nobility of Hollywood for porn films.  She claims that she is in need of instant fame and would like to follow the steps of Kim Kardashian. While many have wondered why she could not use her father’s influence to make a name for herself and some have called her father a failure for not leading her towards the descent path, still others wonder if Kardashian has starred in anything worthwhile to even be considered a success.
Personally, I see it as a Black woman’s independence to show that she can succeed without a man.  While many youths are searching for inheritance, publicity, or social network to use as the springboard to wealth and fame, Montana dumps a father that has all these qualities for prostitution.  Prostitution is not just the oldest trade, but also the last resort for women without shame, means, brains or proper parental guidance.
The truth is that many Black women today put women independence before family unity, children’s happiness, and honour. They would rather be celebrated for making it by themselves than providing a father for their children or sharing the credit with their dad.  Throughout Black American media, single mothers are not only the most celebrated stars, but many young girls see not having a stable father for their children as the surest way to being celebrated as successful.  Do you know how many Black women called into Black radio to stand against Obama’s presidential race until Hillary gave in?  Now, what is the difference between girls who sell their bodies due to lack of parental support and Montana who has a dad?  It is this spirit of ingratitude and selfishness that breeds fatherless homes in Black America.
