PRESIDENT of the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) and chairman of the Guyana Cricket Board’s (GCB) Cricket Development Committee (CDC) Bissoondyal Singh became the first to offer his congratulations to the national cricket team which won the West Indies Cricket Board Twenty20  tournament on  Saturday night. Below is Singh’s message to skipper of the team Ramnaresh Sarwan:

“I extend my sincere congratulations to captain Ramnaresh Sarwan and our victorious national cricket team on their success at the Caribbean T20 tournament.

You and your heroes brought to us immense pride and joy and it must be seen as a fantastic achievement. The heroics came at most challenging a time in our cricket history when some are finding it difficult to achieve the same off the field.

The foresight by the selectors and the innovativeness and dynamism displayed by the team itself that eventually contributed to the success were impressive.

It is with a special happiness that I on behalf of the Demerara Cricket Board and the Cricket Development Committee recognise this treasured moment in the lives of all Guyanese.

It was a festival of excellence at which talent, hard work and distinction were acknowledged and rewarded. I once again congratulate you and wish you and your team well as you seek to place the flag of Guyana at the very highest in South Africa later this year.
