-as judge indicates his leave is imminent
WITH nearly two months to conclude the June criminal sessions the jury attending Justice William Ramlal’s court turned up for duties on Monday, but had to be turned away by the judge, who will be on leave from Tuesday next. Judge Ramlal did not discharge them from duty but did as Justice Roxanne George had done, when she left on leave recently. She alerted them to listen to the media in the event that another judge would be appointed in her absence.
Justice George, one of the two judges assigned to the criminal sessions in Demerara, is on leave and is expected to be back next week, August 10.
Other judge, Mr. Ramlal had indicated that he had applied for lengthy leave, but did not know whether all will be granted.
At present no criminal session is being held in the Demerara High Courts.
