IF America is genuinely a nation that celebrates freedom, equality, and fairness for all and is prepared to even wage war outside its borders to defend these noble values, then America must summarise from the Shirley Sherrod saga that Black Americans must be given their reparation like others.
Blacks in America still possess less than one-half percentage of American wealth in the last 150 years, despite the millions of dollars Blacks have made in the entertainment and sport industries.  The real problem for Blacks is that we cannot guarantee our income stability in America.  The purpose of Black slavery was to generate wealth for others in return for sustenance.  Despite the fact that slavery has been abolished, Blacks, regardless of their education, creativity, and determination to work as well as become entrepreneurs, have found it very hard to rise above sustenance collectively.

The mindset of the rich White capitalistic America is to keep Blacks under sustenance as cheap laborers.  If Shirley Sherrod, an experienced and educated Black woman, who is also a grandmother and well known at Federal levels, could be dismissed from work without verifying the facts, then America must ask genuinely what happens to an average Black at work everyday.  True freedom, equality, and fairness do not occur by mere legal documentation, but rather, through the income to purchase effective legal representation to enforce the law equally for all Americans.   White people neither lose their jobs without proper verification or evidence, nor get killed or harassed by police unnecessarily because of fear of lawsuits.  Sherrod was degraded despite her status and influence, because she was merely a Black that would most likely go search for quick income than to have the resources for excellent legal representation.

President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder must understand that fixing the economy, creating more jobs, and passing the health care bill is meaningless, if all Americans do not have appropriate legal insurance to guarantee that they get their fair share.  For Black Americans to be seen as equals who can possess adequate legal representation, they must be given their reparations NOW!
