John’s murder suspect hospitalized

– listed as stable
THE SUSPECT in the brutal mid-afternoon murder at John’s, Port Mourant on Friday, is said to be hospitalized in a stable condition.
Sleuths in Berbice had quickly located the suspect at his home, where he attempted to commit suicide, as he was found hanging from a length of rope in his bedroom. He was taken down  and rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital, from whence he was transferred to the Georgetown Hospital and placed under police guard.
The 44- year-old cane harvester allegedly stabbed his reputed wife, Yasmattie Samaroo, to death as she was leaving the compound of a grocery in the village, where she had gone to pay off a debt.
A blood stained was recovered by the cops.
Primary school pupil, Amanda Singh, had related to the Guyana Chronicle, in the presence of her uncle, Takoor Budhoo, that she had accompanied her mother to the shop where the latter would usually take credit and return later in the day to pay for the merchandise.
The girl said that having paid the sum owed, her mother was leaving the premises when her father, who was following them, blocked her path.
“He wanted to tell mummy something, but she did not want to hear. He kept blocking her from leaving and she kept saying she did not want to hear. He then pulled out a knife from a socket, which was in a shopping bag, and started to bore her all over. My mother hollered until she fell,” the child said.
She said her father ran after her, but she escaped by running about two hundred meters away to inform her maternal grandmother what had happened.
The slaying of Samaroo  has Berbicians reminiscing on the slaying of 31-year-old Liloutie Seeram, alias Pinky, of Glasgow New Scheme, East Bank Berbice , allegedly at the hands of  her reputed  husband, who also was a cane harvester.
A wanted bulletin has since been issued for Rooplall Boodhoo, who went into hiding since the night of incident on March 27, last.
Years of  domestic abuse escalated during the wee hours of that fateful morning, leaving   Seeram dead, and her mother, Lata Inderdeo, called Cheryl, hospitalized.
When asked about the status of this matter, a senior police replied that it was still under investigation .
Meanwhile, an autopsy is expected to be preformed on the body of Samaroo tomorrow. (Jeune Jeune Van Keric Bailey)
