THE BUSINESS School, on Brickdam here in the city, will, come September, extend its services to accommodate children at the Play, Nursery and Primary School levels.
This additional level, to be called ‘Ermsville’ and located on Lamaha Street, in Alberttown, comes after 35 years of successfully training skilled and qualified personnel for the public and private sectors, and is a demonstration of the school’s commitment to improving the education sector in Guyana and its desire to provide top-quality education and training to students at all levels, a release from the learning institution says.
The new facility will initially comprise a play group for children from the age of two, a nursery group for children three and over to five and ever, and a primary group from Grades 1 – 3.
The aim of the principals is to train students to be creative, independent thinkers and problem-solvers. While adhering to the national curriculum, the school’s programme will incorporate such enrichment activities as music, drama, art and craft, and physical education which have all been known to stimulate learning and brain development.
Ermsville will provide a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment with teachers who are qualified, experienced, and have a genuine love for children. A high standard of tuition and guidance is expected to translate into excellent class and examination performances.
According to School Director, Mr. James Bovell, the name ‘Ermsville’ was chosen in recognition of the stellar contribution that the founder, Mrs. Erma Bovell, has made to the education sector in Guyana.
From the initial stages of the school, Mrs. Bovell has been known for her dedication to the core principles of excellence, discipline, and ethical and moral values; the new school provides the foundation for these core values to be laid at an earlier stage of children’s lives, the release says.
And, according to the school’s principal, Mrs. Cindy Bovell, the new learning facility will be unique, in that learning will be conducted in an information and communications technology driven environment.
Students in the play and nursery groups will be exposed to learning via the use of multi-media, and students in Grades 1 and onwards will be exposed to formal computer training.
The Business School currently offers secondary education to students in Forms 1 – 5, and tuition for professional qualifications in Accountancy, Information Technology, Management and Marketing.
