THE security guard alleged to have been the driver of the motor car which killed 79-year old retired nurse Yvonne Montooth, on Tuesday, has been detained by the Police.
He is expected to face charges following the death of the woman who lived at Lot 22 Dove Square, South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown.
She had been taken to the Accident and Emergency Ward of Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where x-rays showed that she suffered multiple fractures.
It was reported that Montooth was crossing the road at the junction at Main and Quamina Streets, in the city, too, about 10:30 h, when she was hit by the speeding vehicle.
Montooth, who resided at the home of her daughter-in-law, Dacia Montooth, was described by those who knew her as a pleasant old woman with the interest of others at heart.
She had worked in the health sector and made a meaningful contribution to the care of thousands across Guyana.
